چکیده
Let C(t) : I 7→ R be a simple closed unit-speed C curve in R with normal ~n(t). The curve C generates a distribution Γ which acts on vector fields ~v(x1, x2) : R 2 7→ R by line integration according to Γ(~v) = ∫ ~v(C(t)) · ~n(t)dt. We consider the problem of efficiently approximating such functionals. Suppose we have a vector basis or frame Φ = (~ φμ); then an m-term approximation to Γ can be formed by selecting m terms (μi : 1 ≤ i ≤ m) and taking

Equivalence of multitime optimal control problems
Many science and engineering problems can be formulated as optimization problems that are governed by m-flow type PDEs (multitime evolution systems) and by cost functionals expressed as curvilinear integrals or multiple integrals. Though these functionals are mathematically equivalent on m-intervals, their meaning is totally different in real life problems. Our paper discusses the m-flow type P...
متن کاملGeometric Separation by Single-Pass Alternating Thresholding
Modern data is customarily of multimodal nature, and analysis tasks typically require separation into the single components. Although a highly ill-posed problem, the morphological difference of these components sometimes allow a very precise separation such as, for instance, in neurobiological imaging a separation into spines (pointlike structures) and dendrites (curvilinear structures). Recent...
متن کاملNonholonomic approach of multitime maximum principle
Many science and engineering problems can be formulated as optimization problems that are governed by contact distributions (multitime Pfaff evolution systems) and by cost functionals expressed as multiple integrals or curvilinear integrals. Our paper discuss the contact distribution constrained optimization problems, focussing on a nonholonomic approach of multitime maximum principle. This pri...

Many science and engineering problems can be formulated as optimization problems that are governed by m-flow type PDEs (multitime evolution systems) and by cost functionals expressed as multiple integrals or curvilinear integrals. Our paper discuss the m-flow type PDEconstrained optimization problems, focussing on a simplified multitime maximum principle. This extends the simplified single-time...
متن کاملMultitime linear-quadratic regulator problem based on curvilinear integral
This paper interrelates the performance criteria involving path independent curvilinear integrals, the multitime maximum principle, the multitime Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman PDEs and the multitime dynamic programming, to study the linear-quadratic regulator problems and to characterize the optimal control by means of multitime variant of the Riccati PDE that may be viewed as a feedback law. Section...
